The active definition is a first-order revision of that in Sereno (1998) and Dodson et al. (2004) that uses speices as specifiers. The definition follows Dodson et al. (2004) in the use of the eponymous Centrosaurus rather than Pachyrhinosaurus, a genus that is neither more nested or more completely known than Centrosaurus.
