Critique
This taxon is based on Araripesuchus and Peirosauroidea. Clark (1994) and Pol (2003) do not include Peirosaurus, so a comparison of taxonomic content is impossible. On the cladogram of Sereno (2001), the taxon circumscribed by these two genera is Metasuchia. Peirosauriformes may become a valuable taxon in the future, but at present, there is little sense in erecting another redundant higher level taxon.
