Critique
The taxon Deinodontodae (= Dinodontidae, Cope 1866) has been long abandoned, as the holotypic material of the eponymous genus and species is fragmentary and doubtfully assinged to other tyrannosaurid genera (Matthew and Brown 1922). No definition for this taxon exists. It is the first family erected for carrnivorous dinosaurs, predating Megalosauridae by four years.
