| Critique | Chiappe (1991) unintentionally gave two definitions to Ornithopectae, one node-based and the other stem-based. The most formal definition is node-based and cites the Las Hoyas bird (Iberomesornis romerali) and extant birds. In the abstarct and immediately following this definition, however, he cites two similar stem-based versions of the definition. Later (Chiappe (1995) replaced this taxon with Ornithothoraces. |
