Critique
Wolfe and Kirkland (1998:303, 307) coined and defined this taxon using brow horns as a necessary apomorphy. Their definition, however, does not specify a particular ingroup species but rather refers to all ceratopsians. This taxon currently overlaps in taxonomic content with the stem-based taxon Ceratopsoidea, which is adopted here as part of a stable node-stem triplet.
