Comments
Ingeniinae was recognized first by Barsbold (1981), who argued for subdivision of the family Oviraptoridae. Osmólska et al. (2004) were first to define this taxon. They remarked that the taxon can be divided into Oviraptoridae and into its two subdivisions (along with Oviraptorinae). If the intention was to maintain that subdivision, it may have been better to have erected a stem-based defintion for each of the subfamilies based on their most derived species. However, this change will not be made here in the interest of using the original definitions.
