Taxon Status ACTIVE
Comments
The active dfinition is a first-order revision of the previous existing definition (Sereno 1998) that uses species as specifiers. Note that the nominal author of the family group is Milner and Norman 1984. Deraniyagala (1939) was actually first to use the taxon name, but it was an error in the spelling (inversion of the “y” and “r”) of the crocodylomorph taxon Dyrosauridae (as has occasionally occurred since).
Potential Synonomy
Dryosauridae (Deraniyagala 1939, spelling variant of crocdilian family Dyrosauridae; not considered the primary source of name)
